US attacks facilities used by Iran-backed militias
The United States says its military has conducted airstrikes against facilities used by Iran-backed militia groups in the Iraq-Syria border region. It says the action was taken in response to attacks on US-related facilities.
Defense Department Press Secretary John Kirby wrote in a statement on Sunday, Given the ongoing series of attacks by Iran-backed groups targeting US interests in Iraq, President Joe Biden directed further military action to disrupt and deter such attacks.
The statement says the targeted facilities are utilized by Iran-backed militias that are engaged in unmanned aerial vehicle attacks against US personnel and facilities in Iraq.
The USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier strike group is currently in the Middle East to help support the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan, the US Navy has announced.

Under the plan, they’d be vaccinated before most Americans or even our troops. The order was signed on January 27 by Biden appointee Terry Adirim, the principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for health affairs.
