A suspected black fungus patient died at Dhaka s Birdem Hospital three days ago while one black fungus infected patient is undergoing treatment at the same hospital. The 65-year-old patient died three days ago with suspected mucormycosis infection or black fungus. We are examining to confirm the case, Professor M Delwar Hossain, chairman of Department of Respiratory Medicine at Birdem, told The Daily Star.
He said the deceased had uncontrolled diabetes and kidney problems but recovered from Covid-19.
About the mucormycosis patient currently being treated at the hospital, Dr Delwar said that the patient was being given medicine and his condition is not severe.
