Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini and the New York State Department of Labor have announced the arrest of a gas station owner for allegedly exploiting workers and threatening to retaliate against immigrant employees . “Every single worker in this state – no matter what their immigration status is – has the right to be paid for their work and has the right to report unfair working conditions without fear of retaliation,” District Attorney Sini said. “It is unacceptable for an employer to exploit that fear and take advantage of their workers. I commend Governor Cuomo for enacting this critical legislation to hold predatory employers accountable and protect workers, particularly those in the immigrant community who are more vulnerable to these abuses, and I thank the Department of Labor for their continued partnership in rooting out workplace crimes.”
