(WKBT) – Onalaska Police launched an investigation Sunday after a body was found just before 10 a.m. near Highway 53, off of the southbound on-ramp near Sand Lake Road. Onalaska Police officials say two people, who were cleaning up trash along Highway 53, said they saw what they believed to be human remains along the west side embankment, just south of Sand Lake Road. Officers at the scene confirmed the remains appeared to be human. It also appeared the remains had been at that location for a period of time according to officials.
