We are here this afternoon for a virtual town hall meeting with an officerinvolved shooting that occurred on november 17, 2020, on the 800 block of Market Street in the city and county of San Francisco. Before i move forward id like to announce to our viewing and listening audience that we have sign Language Interpretation Services here this afternoon to assist persons who are deaf or hardofhearing. Also this town hall is being translated in spanish and cantonese for members of the community who speak those languages. And in this presentation you will see and hear details of an officerinvolved shooting incident that resulted in lifethreatening injuries to mr. While i didnt have the honor of knowing tui, so many people that i care about cared so much about her, and i just wanted to express my condolences to her husband and family as well as to our colleague, sonny angulo. What a tremendous loss. In addition, im introducing a resolution today, urging Governor Newsom and the department of Public Health to prioritize californias Public School educators for phase one vaccine access. In the early stages of this pandemic, San Francisco and other communities across the state closed schools to slow the spread of the coronavirus across our community. With that said, here is what we hope to accomplish today. First and foremost tonight is about transparency. It is our intention to release the known facts involved in the incident in a nonjudgmental way and id like to emphasize that this is an Ongoing Investigation and as such that there are some facts that we cannot release today because we either do not have the answers at this point and or the release of certain information is prohibited by law or could compromise this investigation. Just come on into the conversation if you like. What im hearing is that we actually have pretty much consensus on item number 1. Item number 2, i feel there is a pathway there. Item number 3, i believe it will take more work with the Sheriffs Department. As a board member, we dont have the authority to actually change the rules and procedures within the electronic monitoring in the Sheriffs Department, but we can actually help facilitate a conversation that we reach a consensus and agreement on how we can better serve those people, those clients we are serving. I think these three recommendations brought forth is an attempt to do that.
