Project what is really excited and really grateful to know that the chief is designing officer trainings on trauma and its effect on children. We feel that this is a really important opportunity to continue to include youth voices and to include the impact on children when their parents are being incarcerated. Our ask as project what would be to hopefully be included in the designing and planning of these trauma trainings and to be a part of regular meetings with the department to kind of keep up with the progress and formulation of these trainings. So i come to this work as someone whose parents were not incarcerated when i was a young person and i have learned incredibly quickly that these youth who eithers have a parent thats currently incarcerated or was formerly incarcerated they are experts of

Misdemeanors to the index and they have submitted 20 or fewer and a smaller number of states have submitted regards regarding restraining orders. 19 states have submitted dome Domestic Violence restraining orderers and of these nine states have submitted ten or fewer end of quote. I note that rhode island has submitted zero Domestic Violence misdemeanor arrest and also for hawaii, illinois 10, minnesota, 162. New york, 02 and vermont, 20. Iowa ranks near the tops of the state but i can confess we have do a better job in my state. 79 of the records submitted come from three small states. As the report says, quote, if all states submitted records of misdemeanor convictions at the average rate of these three states we can project there would be 2 million records and more than 40 times the number currently submitted end quote. Emotion in a Domestic Violence scene. If it is dangerous even to a trained, armed Law Enforcement officer, what does that say about that environment for the victim . Naturally, i think we talked about the sheer violence of Domestic Violence calls. The numbers are real. The Law Enforcement officers that are murdered each year responding to these types of calls, theyre inherently dangerous. And youre correct. We are armed and trained to handle situations, but were knowingly stepping into situations where a firearm is present, the increasing likelihood of someone losing their lives is that much greater. And how would you respond that adding another firearm into the mix by arming the victim would make this a safer situation for either the victim or your officers .
