MLB commissioner Rob Manfred says process of whether Athletics stay in Oakland at the end

DENVER Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred placed added pressure on East Bay officials on Tuesday, intentionally or not, saying the process of keeping the Oakland Athletics from relocating is at the end and stating that this is the decision point for Oakland as to whether they wanna have Major League Baseball moving forward.
The A s and MLB have deemed the site of the Coliseum, which has hosted the A s since 1968, a non-viable option and have prioritized building a waterfront ballpark in downtown Oakland at the Howard Terminal site. The Oakland City Council will consider a non-binding term sheet for that project, in which the A s have proposed privately funding $1 billion, on July 20. If the votes don t go in their favor, the A s may look to relocate to Las Vegas, a city visited by team officials in recent months.
MLB honors Hank Aaron prior to first pitch of All-Star Game
DENVER Major League Baseball paid tribute to the late Hank Aaron just before the start of the All-Star Game on Tuesday at Coors Field.
Aaron died on Jan. 22 at age 86. Billye, wife of the record 25-time All-Star, was accompanied to home plate by the Braves Freddie Freeman and the Yankees Aaron Judge.

Just before the national anthems, she was presented a Braves jersey in the 1974 style used when Aaron broke Babe Ruth s career home run record, a shirt signed by all All-Stars. She also was given a portrait of Aaron created by Colorado-based artist Kaylee Bender.

DENVER Major League Baseball has turned its midsummer classic into a youth movement.
The All-Star Game at Coors Field will have a record 40 first-time players, and many of them are the young superstars that have electrified fans in 2021.
The most heralded is Los Angeles Angels phenom Shohei Ohtani, 27, who will make history as the starting pitcher and as the DH for the American League. It is his first time playing the All-Star Game, but he s not the youngest.
The NL features some of the best young players including San Diego s Fernando Tatis Jr. (22 years old), Ozzie Albies (24) of the Atlanta Braves and Juan Soto (22) of the Washington Nationals. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (22) and Bo Bichette (23) of Toronto are two of the young stars on the AL roster.
