Denver's Urban Peak youth homeless provider is getting ready to open a larger shelter after facing a city auditor prevailing-wage ruling that raised the project's price tag by $2 million.
The homeless youth service provider will have to pay an estimated $2 million to underpaid construction workers after losing a wage theft appeal hearing.
The Denver Auditor's Office's labor division collected more than $2 million in wage theft investigations against employers in 2023 and is asking city council to expand its powers.
