AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Clovis Regional Airportâs new 50 passenger regional jet is now in service.
This is just one of the many additions the airport has been making.
TSA will be in service by June first so passengers flying to Denver can hop right on to their connecting flight.
The construction will be complete by the end of this week and then they will start bringing in all the equipment.
Clovis Regional Airport is making many upgrades to their airport like adding TSA so people can go to straight to their connecting flights in Denver, upgrading the seating capacity so they can have more people at the airport and are even working on getting flights to Dallas.
The cities of Alliance and Chadron are once again going separate directions with their recommendations for Essential Air Service. A recommendation from the City of Carlsbad to continue air service with a San Francisco area based airline was sent to the United States Department of Transportation (DOT).
Jan. 26 the Carlsbad City Council voted to extend the Essential Air Service (EAS) agreement with Boutique Air, which has had the contract since 2015.

The current two-year contract expires in late May.

Late last year, Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway said DOT issued a request for proposals for EAS to operate commercial flights out of the Cavern City Air Terminal.
Janway said EAS is a federal subsidy awarded to an airline offering flights to and from Carlsbad. The DOT asks for requests every few years.
