LOUISVILLE, Ky. Metro Councilman Jecorey Arthur is urging police Chief Erika Shields and Mayor Greg Fischer to fire officers involved in an arrest Sunday, saying they violated the city s use of force policy when an officer repeatedly punched a protester in the face and others stood by and didn t stop him.
In an open letter to Shields, Arthur and a group of local activists laid out several Louisville Metro Police policies they believe were violated by the officers. Mayor (Greg) Fischer and Chief Shields can and should immediately terminate the officers involved in the incident, a draft of the letter states, arguing that state and local laws do not prevent them from doing so.
