LEXINGTON TWP. – A local business owner is seeking assistance from the community after his bike shop burned down.
Dennis Simmons, 50, operates Dennis Vintage Bicycles in a building in his backyard. The shop buys, sells, trades and services bikes, scooters, tricycles and parts.
The shop suffered significant damage from a fire that broke out March 13. Lexington Township Fire Lt. John Summers said no one was injured in the incident, and the department ruled the fire accidental. He said the fire was started by a cigar that was thrown into a pile of leaves.
Simmons said the fire caused about $16,200 in damages, and he only has only $5,000 in insurance.
