Middlesbrough mayor faces pressure to resign amid misconduct allegations Middlesbrough Council mayor Andy Preston (Ind) is facing a vote of no confidence if he does not stand down, after his deputy and four councillors on the executive resigned over what they described as his “consistent poor conduct”. A letter to Mr Preston sent today from his deputy Antony High (Ind) and other senior Independent councillors - Dorothy Davison, Dennis McCabe, Chris Hobson and Ashley Waters - made accusations in relation to financial management. They warned Mr Preston that if his resignation is “not forthcoming” they will seek to hold an extraordinary council meeting to hold a public vote of no confidence in him.

Spicer Engineering, Johnson Controls, Fleis and Vanderbrink, and Fishbeck-Townely Engineering responded to the village s request for qualifications. The council approved Fishbeck’s proposal and professional service agreement at a cost of $61,400. To fund that, $22,000 will come from the village’s sewer fund balance and $40,000 from a reserve expense account. “There was one area that Fishbeck-Townley’s RFQ exceeded, Village Manager Debbie Powell noted in her written report to the council.
