LOWVILLE â There are 14 village and town offices throughout Lewis County that have no candidates to fill them after the deadline for party line petitions passed Thursday, but there are some offices that will have both primary and Election Day battles.
âThere are a few good races shaping up, but the real story this year is that there are so many positions without any candidates,â Democratic Commissioner of the county Board of Elections Lindsay Burriss said. âItâs more than Iâve seen before.â
Tax collectors and council members are the majority of positions that have no candidates so far. The towns each have two council positions up for election this year, but five towns have only one candidate that filed petitions under one of the major political party lines.

AkinovA (Bermuda) has been granted the first “Insurance Marketplace Provider” licence by the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA), Bermuda’s financial services regulator. This new category of Insurance Intermediary was created as a result of Bermuda’s Insurance Amendment Act 2019 (Act). It is understood that this makes AkinovA the first new regulated insurance marketplace since Lloyd’s of London Act of parliament in 1871. Unlike Lloyd’s, AkinovA enables capital providers, brokers, agents and cover buyers with a safe and remote electronic space to enable them to exchange information and agree transactions within a low friction environment.

AkinovA (Bermuda) Ltd., the wholly owned Bermuda trading subsidiary of AkinovA Ltd., has been granted the first “Insurance Marketplace Provider” license by Bermuda’s financial services regulator.
This new category of insurance intermediary provides capital providers, brokers, agents and cover buyers with a safe and remote electronic space to enable them to exchange information and agree transactions within a low friction environment, said London-based AkinovA Ltd. in a statement.
The license from the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) enables AkinovA to facilitate the transfer of insurance and reinsurance risks by cedents and their intermediaries (brokers and agents) to a wide range of both traditional and non-traditional capacity providers, using its digital risk transfer marketplace in a fully regulated environment.
