CRESTVIEW Okaloosa County inmates serving time for misdemeanor offenses soon will have a new skill at their fingertips.
Those who elect to participate in one of the jail s newest programs will be able to learn how to operate an embroidery machine and embroider textiles with designs, decorations, labels and beads.
Corrections Director Eric Esmond said the program is a part of a growing list of training opportunities designed to teach job skills and reduce recidivism by offering inmates more options when they are released.
One of the roles of the correctional system is rehabilitation and to create situations in which inmates can become viable, contributing members of society.
