#BTColumn - The right 'Guy' for the job - Barbados Today

April 30, 2021 Disclaimer: The views and opinions expressed by this author are their own and do not represent the official position of the Barbados Today Inc. by Lloyd Taylor This past week has been quite an interesting one, to put it mildly for the Democratic Labour Party. It began with the significance of their week of celebrations to mark 66 years of being a political institution. It was followed by the revelation by Party leader Verla DePieza that she has secured about 75 percent of candidates for the next General Elections and that she herself intends to contest the St. Lucy seat. The news, while refreshing to hear for many party supporters, was soon soured when your media house revealed that no one in the constituency knew of her or was willing to give her a shot against the sitting Member of Parliament Hon. Peter Philips – based on the back page report on April 27th of Barbados TODAY.
