SHETLAND MSP Beatrice Wishart has been named MSP Nature Champion of the Year 2022 by Scottish environment network LINK. Wishart was nominated by Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) for her work championing protection of the orca. In May, the MSP highlighted the serious impacts.
PART of Lerwick’s Commercial Street will be closed off to vehicle traffic on Thursday (3 June) to allow for filming of the BBC crime drama
Shetland.
From 7am to 9pm there will be a temporary road closure from Irvine Place (Bank of Scotland) to the steps next to Shetland Turf Accountants to allow filming to take place in and around the Dennis Coutts photography shop.

This closure will, however, be manned at all times to allow access for disabled traffic and any urgent/necessary deliveries between and beyond these points.
Shetland location manager Davie Gardner said: “Please note however that vehicles may be held temporarily (maximum of 10 minutes) while actual filming takes place and until the road is made safe again.

Two low-income families are suing Habitat for Humanity of Greater Vancouver for allegedly breaching oral contracts promising them a path to home ownership.
Two couples named in the civil lawsuit say they signed papers and started paying an interest-free mortgage issued by the non-profit group, but now fear they may never actually own the properties they live in. They have no documents outlining the terms of the original deals .
