£25million plan for Hartlepool will provide skills for current and future generations , says leader

Submitting. The former Wesley church and nightclub was badly damaged by fire in 2017. Cllr Moore said: “It is a really robust proposal and I’d like to think we stand a good chance of getting a good chunk of what we asked for. “It’s a good balance between capital and investing in skills and making sure that not only the current generation, but future generations to come are going to be upskilled and put into the type of employment that’s going to keep them, hopefully, in a job for life.” As part of the funding a Health and Care Centre of Excellence training facility within the University Hospital of Hartlepool would also be developed, which would be a ‘state of the art facility’ and ‘one of only a handful in the country’ of its kind.

Council chief warns Covid-19 cases in Hartlepool could be set to rise after Christmas

Submitting. Denise McGuckin, Hartlepool Borough Council managing director, said cases have been falling from a ‘very high level’, although now have started to plateau. Speaking at the final full council meeting of the year, Mrs McGuckin thanked residents for their hard work in following Covid-19 guidelines to date and urged them to continue to do so. She added although three households are allowed to mix in a bubble for a five day period over Christmas, it does not necessarily mean they should, and warned she expects there may be rise in cases following the festive period. She said: “While we’ve seen a great drop in cases which is wonderful, and it’s down to all the behaviour of everyone in Hartlepool, and we thank everybody for all the hard work that they’re doing, its starting to plateau a little bit.
