Rich Koenig has been named interim dean of the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences, effective July 1, following an open, internal search. He will assume the new role on June 7.

Nominations are being sought from within the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences for an interim leader following the announcement today that Dean André-Denis Wright has accepted a new position in Oklahoma.
Wright, who took the helm at CAHNRS in June 2018, will serve as senior vice president and provost at the Norman campus for the University of Oklahoma. His last day at WSU will be June 30.
“Dean Wright has been a strong leader and advocate for CAHNRS and Extension during the challenging past three years of WSU fiscal recovery and COVID response,” said Senior Vice President and Provost Elizabeth Chilton. “We are grateful for Dr. Wright’s leadership at WSU and wish him the very best.”

Professor Lav Khot was named interim director of Washington State University’s AgWeatherNet with the goal of maintaining the momentum of the system’s growth and increasing public-private partnerships. Khot takes over as director for Dave Brown, who initiated much of the growth.
AgWeatherNet provides weather data and weather-related support tools to improve agricultural production, efficiency and profitability.

“We want to make sure this high-quality data is collected and distributed to grower stakeholders so they can make informed decisions that benefit their operations and the state of Washington,” said Khot, an associate professor in WSU’s Department of Biological Systems Engineering and faculty in the Center for Precision & Automated Agricultural Systems (CPAAS).
