A long list of updates and changes to the city’s Recreation Master Plan were approved in principle by Cornwall city council at its Monday meeting.
The master plan is a strategic document that sets out the city’s needs and priorities in recreation, including facilities, programs and activities, as well as parks and open spaces.

The previous plan, finalized in 2009, expired in 2020. Administration contracted Monteith Brown Planning Consultants to update the document, which Cornwall Mayor Bernadette Clement referred to as a living document something which will change over the years, to better fit the community’s needs.

Of the many recommendations presented by the recently unveiled latest draft of Cornwall’s recreation master plan, one has already garnered some opposition the relocation of some sport fields to the Benson Centre.
