It had been three weeks since deputies arrested Dempsey Hadley after a shootout. Wednesday afternoon, he could stand before a judge for the first time. Hadley walked in chains up to the stand. The judge read the charges and said Hadley would stay in jail for now.
A Deltona man accused of being behind a standoff and setting his house on fire has now been cleared from an Orlando hospital and moved to a Volusia County jail.
Dempsey Hadley, 56, is in jail without bail on three counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude, and petty theft.
After a dangerous situation for his team earlier this week, Deltona Fire Chief Bill Snyder said he is relieved his firefighters and Volusia deputies are heading into the holidays alive.
