don t want to have hypocrisy thrown in their face by say, oh, when it was the democrats subpoenaing republicans and they defied subpoenas, they should be prosecuted and go to jail, and they don t want, if they choose to defy the subpoena, which they certainly will pomeranz will defy it. they re trying to preempt the hypocrisy that will come from republicans. but at the end of the day, this isn t going to amount to anything the courts are not going to intervene with how congress there is that small separation of powers argument. you re hear for analysis more than the crystal ball. at least on this program, we don t really predict what the courts are going to do we report on it. not much precedent for what bragg is asking the courts to do. again, i just want to make sure folks understand, we don t
to stay on offense in new york on the prosecution of donald trump for stated felonies. now, this new filing, which i said, brand new, got it late today. if you haven t heard, you re hearing now is suing specifically top republicans in congress for interfering in the prosecution. now, if you re thinking that s unusual, it is indeed the new york times today calls this case and filing a, quote, extraordinary step to counter what the republicans in congress are trying to do. the judiciary chairman you may have heard of, jim jordan, was trying to subpoena veterans of this d.a. s office there s no big amount of funding to link them them d.a. is local. local prosecutors around new york and the nation operate separate with no oversight from the federal congress that s the context for what i m about to report if you bragg s suit, what he calls a brazen and unprecedented attack.
much violence occurred the protests were nothing of the sort so as a factual and legal matter, that s false my question is not to refact check it, alt you may, it s your time but my question is, what does it tell you a part of the right i m not saying all republicans but some of them, and we see it especially in the south feel the need to lie about history, whether it s the recent history of what i called the convicted sedition insurrection, the lie about the protest, the lie about history parts of america feel badly about or want to go away that there was racism, there is racism, there was slavery, there was capitalism built on a slavery economy. we can try to grow out of all these things, but you re there living through it. what is it about some of your colleagues who need to lie about what we have been through. cameron sexton, speaker of the house wielding his voice the
house republicans apparently trying to intimidate and attack the district attorney. no one news this was coming today. the suit shows bragg is not going to wait around in these skirmishing. he s not going to have again, i m holding a piece of the filing he s not going to have a criminal defendant, no matter who he is, swing a bat and threaten him in and his office in the safety of the courts while allies in congress try to abuse subpoena power he s not going to wait around. d.a. bragg recognizes some of these republicans are pushing a different kind of confrontation. this also chose while trump and allies have a playbook he used it against james comey and bob mueller, bragg s read it he s not only trying to act first, he s trying to outmaneuver them jim jordan did start this part of the fight, but it might
