State Auditor Nicole Galloway said Friday she won’t be a candidate for reelection, or any other office, next year.
It’s a move that, at least for now, ends the electoral career of Missouri’s lone statewide official and provides Missouri Republicans with a greater opportunity to hold all of Missouri’s statewide posts.
Galloway, who lost to Gov. Mike Parson in last year’s gubernatorial contest,
announced in a statement on Twitter that she was “deeply grateful for the opportunity” for being in public service. In addition to serving essentially two terms as auditor, Galloway also was Boone County’s treasurer.

Nick Myers, a certified public accountant from Newton County, was recently elected to be the chairman of the Missouri Republican Party.
For newly elected Missouri Republican Party Chairman Nick Myers, his primary goal as leader of the state GOP is pretty simple.
“My goal is to elect Republicans,” Myers said.
Myers, a certified public accountant from Newton County and longtime party insider, said Missouri Republicans are well positioned to defend a U.S. Senate seat and capture the state auditor’s office next year.
And based on the party’s off-the-charts performance in rural and exurban counties, those hopes appear within reach. Missouri Republicans have had four good election cycles in a row most recently 2020, in which the party swept key statewide races and faced minimal losses to its supermajorities in the Missouri General Assembly.

Missouri GOP Party head resigned early after troubling messages from Trump supporters
Former Missouri Republican Party Executive Director Jean Evans says she resigned a few weeks early. Her term expired this month. Evans tells Missourinet she made the decision after getting troubling messages from Trump supporters trying to keep him in the White House.
“The calls were becoming increasingly angry and demanding and threatening – never to the level where I felt like I needed to report somebody to police but just a lot of anger. It seemed inevitable, based on the anger I was hearing and the number of people going to Washington, that there could be some violence,” she says.
Four Republican U.S. House members from Missouri say they will vote against certifying the Electoral College results of President-Elect Joe Biden. Congressman Jason Smith of southeast Missouri’s Salem, Billy Long of southwest Missouri’s Springfield, Sam Graves of northwest Missouri’s Tarkio and Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler of west-central Missouri’s Harrisonville plan to join Missouri U.S. Senator Josh Hawley in protesting the election outcome.

Congressman Smith is a GOP Conference Secretary on Capitol Hill.
They are all strong allies of President Donald Trump. Trump has alleged widespread election fraud in November.
Whether House Republicans Ann Wagner and Blaine Luetkemeyer back this effort is unknown.
