too many g.o.p. candidates could be good news for the former president. i guarantee you at mar-a-lago they break out the champagne every time there s a new candidate. and they would love to have 15 or 20 candidates. the democratic national committee writing christie off as just another extremist in a rapidly growing field of republicans. now, bret, any moment here we are expected to see governor chris christie walk out here on the stage in new hampshire and talk about his plans to run for the white house. for that second time it will be a town area here where people will be able to ask questions to him and figure out exactly if they want to back him but, at this point, the way he is polling would not qualify for that debate coming up in august. bret. bret: is he looking to change that scenario. i want to i know you are in the golf voice there with the town hall right behind you, but, is there a sense that he has a big campaign schedule, alexis, coming up? we re going to talk
correspondence dinner. the thing that i think you can say about christie is in a candidate pool that is relatively low octane when it comes to moon caive ability, he typically has shown more of a gift for that. you know, that s something that plays well in new hampshire. again, i don t see a lane here. the lane for conservative populism that includes donald trump and ron desantis is enormous. it is the overwhelming lane in the party everyone else is fighting over a very thin dog track that s running alongside that super highway. bret: amy? i don t disagree at all is there a case to be made right now to republican voters that donald trump is not the right candidate and who is best able to make that case? right now, that is something that it seems all the candidates are struggling to figure out. do they go to the right on him on cultural issues. do they make it about
to run and they should run, beating biden is more important than anything else. more competition is good. we as a party need to define what we stand for and why we stand for it. christie has now filed his campaign paperwork. just hours before his big announcement at his second town hall this year in new hampshire. i m not a particular fan of him, but i like to hear what he has to say. i m certainly not for anyone at this time. i just want to see, you know, what everyone is kind of putting forward. back in 2016, christie focused his campaign around the granite state. but came in 6th in the state s primary. after he dropped out of the race, he endorsed trump. we need a first class president and we re going to have it in donald trump. but those two are not close anymore. the reason we are losing is because donald trump has put himself before everybody else. christie has slammed the former president for january 6th and for claiming the 2020 election was stolen.
