Pinnacle Station, an add-on that brought a small hub and combat simulator to Mass Effect 1, isn t included.
If you re familiar with the saga of this DLC s inclusion in other versions of the game you may know what s coming - but, if not, BioWare has now confirmed why.
Pinnacle Station was skipped over when the original Mass Effect belatedly launched on PlayStation 3, some five years after it originally arrived on Xbox 360.
At the time, BioWare admitted its source code had become corrupted and it could no longer be worked upon. Now, and despite fresh efforts from BioWare to resurrect the add-on, this is sadly still the case.
While
Mass Effect Legendary Edition will have over 40 other expansions and DLC to play, there are a couple of omissions within the bundle.
According to Game Informer, the Pinnacle Station DLC won’t be available due to data corruption.
Pinnacle Station was originally developed by Demiurge Studios, not BioWare. The source code for the DLC has been lost, and when the studio tried to retrieve the backups, the data was almost completely unusable. In order for the
Pinnacle Station DLC to be re-released, it would have to be a complete remake.
Pinnacle Station was the second DLC pack for
Mass Effect and it added a training facility, along with 13 new combat scenarios.
