Suspect, 38, charged in Bessemer shooting death

A 38-year-old suspect has been charged in a fatal shooting last weekend in Bessemer.
Allen Jones, of Bessemer, is charged with murder in the April 3 killing of Demario Kirkland. Jones was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Thursday and released today after posting $100,000.
Kirkland, 31, was killed at 6:43 p.m. that Saturday in the 100 block of 10th Street South in Bessemer. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 8 p.m.
Authorities have not yet said what led to killing.
