Subscriber only Four Northern Rivers businesses have taken out the top honours in the 2021 delicious. Harvey Norman Produce Awards. Nimbin Valley Dairy, Byron Gourmet Mushrooms, Pocket Herbs & Produce and Fair Game Wild Venison were among 127 producers receiving the state awards across dairy, earth, paddock and sea categories. Editorial director of delicious., Kerrie McCallum, said the judges tasted their way through the crop of predominantly primary produce industry-nominated entries. Although the pandemic still presents challenges, this year s state judging was as exciting as ever, Ms McCallum said. The produce that was tasted across all of the categories was outstanding. Australian producers continue to deliver world-leading produce.
King s Lynn business catering for meat eaters, vegans and vegetarians opens its doors

A new street food business which caters for meat eaters, vegans and vegetarians has opened its doors in Lynn.
PJ s Street Food and Catering, based at Brights Court on Austin Fields, offers a wide variety of street food, as well as providing a catering service to the public and West Norfolk businesses.
And the business, which opens six days a week, is trialling deliveries this coming Friday and Saturday.

Joint owner Paul Reeve, who is a vegan himself, opened the business after feeling that there was a lack of options for vegan eaters in West Norfolk.
âWe are a pretty dedicated group who puts a lot of time and effort into the cafe,â Mr Cree said.
âI think itâs a universal feeling about our cafe which we are happy about.â
Mr Cree said the coupleâs next project was starting up a consultancy website to help those starting a cafe or restaurant.
âJanine and I have owned quite a few cafe and restaurants, we have a formula that works,â he said.
âBecause we have done it for so long and have been successful I feel like I could help a lot of people start their own businesses.â

Subscriber only THIS week, one of Dale Newberry s customers came into his Kawungan butchery and asked to pay off someone s Christmas order. He opened up his order book, an account was chosen and the $200 amount was paid in full. With customers like that, it s no wonder Mr Newberry wants to provide the best products and service possible to each and every one. This year celebrity, chef Matt Preston teamed up with the Chronicle and Delicious Magazine to find the Fraser Coast s best butcher. The public voted on their favourite deli and butchers from across the region. Mr Newberry s business, Kawungan Quality Meats took out first place with 40.8% of the vote.
