let s take a look at some more of the things that have been going on here. here is richard beeson from the team romney on the mathematical realities. because this is what it s come down to. the argument that they ve got the numbers. here it is, according to politico, while rick santorum is taking a victory lap after alabama and mississippi, the fact remains that nothing has changed or advanced his chance of getting the republican nomination. tuesday s results actually increased governor romney s delegate lead, while his opponents only moved closer to their date of mathematical elimination. how does this sound in the hustings, steve, to hear if you re a voter in illinois this tuesday, well, you don t really matter, because the numbers here say you re finished, if you want to vote for santorum? well, that s not an argument that is penetrating to voters in states like illinois. you know, that s an argument for the inside washington and the donor community that s funding the campaigns.
morning. ets it s going to go like that today. also joining us is jeff toobin the cnn senior legal analyst. thank you for joining us and hank of political strategist, iconic political strategist. nice to have you joining us. thank you. lots to get to. the afghan man who hijacked a car and then breached security, drove on to the runway in kabul just as the pentagon chief leon panetta was landing. that man has died. he died from burns he received after he lit himself on fire. we learned that he apparently was trying to run over a group of marines who had assembled to meet the defense secretary. the british soldier was also injured in that incident. leon panetta is in the capital and he s going to be meeting with the afghan president, harmid karzai and that comes days after a u.s. army sergeant apparently went on a violent attack and went door to door in the middle of the night killing 16 afghan civilians and most women and children. this morning, that suspect, a father of t
what does the race look like? illinois is a strange state. paul kirk won a republican primary for senate. but the extreme conservative candidate won the primary for governor. and, of course that, was the only reason that pat green got re-elected. i think it s going to be a close race. i think in illinois the money could make a difference. you could see romney do what he did in michigan and ohio, sort of a narrow victory. but, chris this is deja vu all over again. remember in march and april and may in 2008, hillary won all the primaries and won some of them by staggeringly large margins. and, yet, obama kept piling up delegates and kept holding the delegate lead. but that s a tough shot against obama. obama who i, of course, was supporting on those days, you were supporting hillary, governor. we all know whose side we were on. honestly, i had a spirited campaign behind him, people who really believed in him. before you lodge that unfair metaphor there comparing them, do you really
exactly. let me go back to this question. let s look at this more. let s take a look at some more of the things that have been going on here. here is richard beeson from the team romney on the mathematical realities. because this is what it s come down to. the argument that they ve got the numbers. here it is, according to politico, while rick santorum is taking a victory lap after alabama and mississippi, the fact remains that nothing has changed or advanced his chance of getting the republican nomination. tuesday s results actually increased governor romney s delegate lead, while his opponents only moved closer to their date of mathematical elimination. how does this sound in the hustings, steve, to hear if you re a voter in illinois this tuesday, well, you don t really matter, because the numbers here say you re finished, if you want to vote for santorum? well, that s not an argument that is penetrating to voters in states like illinois. you know, that s an argument for the
achieved. and we re doing it because ideas matter. being able to make a principle case matters. the reagan tradition of visionary conservatism was based on proverbs and the deep believe that without vision people perish. and i believe we need a visionary leader who is prepared to talk about a dramatically better future with dramatically more jobs, more energy, and a safer and stronger america. that s the key to winning this fall. not all this petty baloney, but the really big choices. and as i went around both states talking about $2.50 gasoline, having all sorts of folks in the elite media saying that s not possible, and finally on saturday in the wall street journal they wrote a piece that is entitled newt gingrich is right about gasoline. and he walked through step by step why it s possible. and the fact is it s very possible. and then yesterday, steven moore reported in the wall street journal, numbers are so amaz g amazing, the fact i want to about substance is wha
