federal level? i would much prefer it be done at the state and local level. i hear you, but i literally did a special about a wandering cop who was jude indicated from delaware to maryland. that s across state lines, you see what i mean. once you have across-stat-line issues, it has to be at the federal level. if a cop is coming from one jurisdiction to another, they have to let you know what happened in the previous jurisdiction. the other thing that s happening is we re not getting enough good police officers applying. i remember flying through the phoenix airport talking with officers there. they don t get enough people applying, taking the test because there s been this defund the police and attack on law enforcement. they may have 100 openings and get ten people apply.
again, we are seeing these shortages, tens of thousands of teacher openings all across the country, everywhere from delaware to nevada, pennsylvania hit hard, they say they have 22,000 fewer educators in the field than they did back in 2020 and this is forcing a lot of creative solutions all over the country. florida is looking at plans to put more military veterans into the classroom, they may not have the traditional teaching accreditation but some there say they have nontraditional experience that could still really benefit students. in other states like arizona you re seeing changes to teacher requirements as well, some teachers will enter the classroom without having yet obtained their college degrees. in rural parts of texas students going to just four days a week in order to compensate for the shortfall. that might be a solution that s popular among some students, we have to see which of these might be short-term solutions like bringing more virtual teach nears the classroom and
retention and recruitment. thousands of teachers are needed, shortages from delaware to nevada. we re also seeing creative solutions when it comes to how to staff the classroom. florida looking at using military veterans who aren t certified to teach, but who have nontraditional experience that could be considered valuable in the classroom. arizona doing things like changing its policy to allow teachers into the classroom even before they have their college degrees. now, look, in the short-term, guys, what we could see are solutions like more virtual teachers teaching classes. you could see fewer class offerings, larger class sizes, but really this is a call for districts to address the systemic issues that are draining that workforce. yeah, can t imagine many people would look forward to the return of virtual teaching, given the long hangover from virtual learning. yeah, yeah. alexandra field, thank you for keeping us updated. in texas, a school district near fort worth told
