Delaware residents waiting for second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine can wait as long as six weeks between vaccinations, according to new guidance released Thursday from state health officials.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week updated the timeline for the amount of time available between first and second doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.
While the agency said it still recommends getting the second dose as close to the recommended interval as possible – 21 days for Pfizer-BioNTech and 28 for Moderna – vaccines may be scheduled for administration up to six weeks after the first dose.
