MUNCIE, Ind. The 2022 election cycle is already getting started. The Muncie City Court judge has announced her intention to run for a Delaware County Circuit Court seat next year.
Amanda Dunnuck, the current city court judge, released a statement on Saturday saying that she intends to run for Delaware County Circuit Court One as a Democrat.
The seat is currently held by Democrat Marianne Vorhees, who has been a circuit court judge since 2004. Vorhees confirmed that she will not be seeking reelection after 20 years as a judge. She served nine years as a master commissioner before becoming a circuit court judge.
MUNCIE, Ind. The plan to cancel the upcoming sixth Delaware County Circuit Court is still moving forward through the Indiana General Assembly despite the house version of the bill failing to find a sponsor from the senate.
The state legislature last year approved plans for the court, which would begin operations in January 2023. However, legislation proposed during this session would repeal the court s creation.
Current plans, unless the court is called off, would have Circuit Court 6 replace the Muncie City Court.
Beyond issues with the existing city court not being a court of record, plus transportation issues from the new jail, overwhelming case loads in the other circuit courts have been cited as a major reason for the creation of an additional circuit court.
