MaKynslee Sanders passed away on Monday. Her official cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma.

Dozens gathered in Delano Park in Decatur Sunday night for a candlelight vigil honoring the life of MaKynslee Sanders.
The eight-month-old succumbed to injuries suffered during an attack on Monday. The official cause of death has been ruled blunt force trauma. She was our joy and that was taken from us,” Nikki Nichols, Sanders’ grandmother, said Sunday.
With the heartbreak still fresh on the family s minds Sunday, family, friends and strangers gathered by the dozen to help honor the life of MaKynslee and show their support during this extremely difficult and tragic time.

An 8-month-old girl who police say was murdered and sexually tortured by a Decatur man had genital bruising that came from penetration, according to a police affidavit filed in court Wednesday.
The girl, born June 1, also had welts on her neck, bruising on her face, shoulder and legs and a bite mark on her arm, police said.

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - New details were released to the public Wednesday from the investigation of the death of an 8-month-old Decatur girl.
According to our news partners at The Decatur Daily, the girl who police say was murdered and sexually tortured by a Decatur man had genital bruising that came from penetration. This information was contained within a police affidavit filed in court Wednesday.

The median on the south end of Hudson Memorial bridges will look prettier, and the map of Decatur s police jurisdiction will change.
The landscaping project and PJ expansion were among several items approved Monday by City Council during a morning meeting.
The council unanimously OK d agreements with the Alabama Department of Transportation that will allow the city to landscape and maintain the median at the U.S. 31/Sixth Avenue and Alabama 20/Wilson Street intersection.
Mayor Tab Bowling said the landscaping plan hasnât been drawn up so he doesnât know yet how much improving the median s appearance will cost the city. A timetable for the project wasn t available Monday.
