Roundup: Amherst girls cap standout season with win over Minnechaug Staff Reports Published: 2/28/2021 6:29:03 PM The Amherst Regional girls basketball team closed its season with a 56-33 road win over Minnechaug on Saturday. Delaney MacPhetres and Mayouri Yath led the Hurricanes with 11 points each. Sophie Highma added nine points, while Sara Hastie had eight. Amherst finished the season 15-1. Ice hockey Chicopee Comp 6, South Hadley 2 – Ryan Tucker and Austin Deren found the net, as the Tigers closed the season late Friday. Tucker scored 6 minutes, 22 seconds into the second period, while Deren’s goal came 12:06 into the third. Alpine skiing

Williston’s Jordyn Meunier hits 1,000 points Williston Northampton’s Jordyn Meunier recently joined the 1,000-point club. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Staff Reports Jordyn Meunier made history recently for the Williston-Northampton School girls basketball program. The senior, who hails from Longmeadow, joined the 1,000-point club in a game against Wilbraham Monson Academy. Meunier became the eighth girl in Williston history to accomplish the feat. A five-year starter for the program and three-time All-NEPSAC selection, Meunier is averaging 25 points per game this winter. She signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Division 1 American University. Amherst 49, Longmeadow 19 – A stout defensive effort propelled the Hurricanes to a lopsided victory over Longmeadow on Saturday.
