The Rotary Club of Peninsula Sunset collected $800 cash and 35 bags of relief items during their disaster relief initiative collection at the ROC Market in Suva, and donations continue to pour in.
Community Service Director Prashant Anuraag says the support from the people of Fiji towards the initiative has been tremendous and they are thankful that people have shown their support to those who have been affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

The centre of Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa is located about 215 kilometres North of Nadi and it continues to track towards us.
Close to its centre the cyclone is expected to have very destructive winds upto 250 kilometres per hour with momentary gusts to 350 kilometres per hour.
The cyclone is moving East South East at about 19 kilometres per hour.

Evacuation centres in the Central, Western and Northern Divisions have been activated and occupied.
According to the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) a total of 24 evacuation centres have been activated in these Divisions with 531 evacuees.
The NDMO says the evacuation of 44 households located in close locality of the Energy Fiji Limited transmission lines in Cunningham continues.
Their evacuation to Delainamasi Primary School is being coordinated by first responders.

This as 1035 evacuation centers have been activated in the last 24 hours as the country braces for the imminent arrival of Tropical Cyclone Yasa category 5. The National Disaster Management Office has also confirmed that more than 50 families of Muanivatu Settlement had to be moved to a nearby evacuation centre as well. Inhabitants of Muanivatu informal settlement along Suva’s Fletcher Road found refuge at nearby St Luke’s Anglican Church and the Meteorology Office on Fletcher Road. Jim Pillay and his family were asleep when they heard Police officers knocking at the door of their home while it was still dark.
