Jordan Burnette is being charged with burglary as a hate crime and also faces numerous charges related to the acts of vandalism as alleged hate crimes that have taken place in the Riverdale community, NYPD Deputy Inspector and Hate Crimes Task Force commanding officer Jessica Corey said in a news conference Saturday evening.

A 29-year-old man has been charged with hate crimes in connection with a vandalism spree at four synagogues in the Bronx neighborhood of Riverdale over the past several days.
Jordan Burnette, who lives in the neighborhood, is charged with burglary as a hate crime and numerous charges related to the acts of vandalism as hate crimes that have taken place in this community, Jessica Corey, commanding officer of the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force, said Sunday.
The investigation is ongoing. Corey declined to confirm whether a motive had been established.

A suspect was arrested recently following several vandalism incidents at synagogues located in the Bronx area of New York City.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jordan Brunette faces multiple charges that include burglary as a hate crime, ABC 7 reported Saturday.

Police officers were on patrol around 3 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Delafield Avenue and West 246th Street in Riverdale when they say they saw him riding a bike against traffic. They stopped him and tried to write him a ticket, but police say Brunette became uncooperative and refused to provide proper identification. He was taken into custody and brought him to a precinct for further questioning because he fit the description of the suspect in the string of vandalism.
