DeKALB – The DeKalb Area Women’s Center will be hosting its annual holiday shopping fair with live music, shopping opportunities from local vendors, and refreshments. The event is from 6 p.m to 9 p.m Dec. 1 and 9 a.m to 4 p.m Dec. 2 at Majakka Hall, 1021 State St. According to a press release.

Do a little … Play a lot!<br/><br/>“Harpin Howard” Solomon supplies you with pre-tuned autoharps, finger picks, and chord song sheets, provides an example of how a song goes, and gives everyone in the circle a chance to play the same song at a comfortable speed and complexity level. <br/><br/>As a group, everybody will receive the applause of a minimum of 19 other participants for each song performed. This is a low-pressure environment in which you can expect to succeed in playing songs on the autoharp. At 3:30 p.m. Howard will perform and fill the room with autoharp music! <br/><br/>The autoharps each weigh between 8 and 11 pounds, and because of the weight, participants must be limited to middle school students to adults.<br/><br/>“Harpin Howard” Solomon has six years of experience as an autoharp play and 45 years of experience playing the guitar. By special request, an extended show time for Chris Perkovich: The First Seventy Years, a Solo Retrospective of paintings, drawings, soft sculpture, and photos of community art work continues through Friday, June 24, 2022, at the DeKalb Area Women's Center. Chris is a NIU School of Education and School of Art alum, as well as a retired DeKalb District 428 teacher. Chris is currently the art teacher at Creston Elementary School.<br/><br/>This extended time solo retrospective exhibition is available for viewing on Fridays, 7 pm to 9 pm. Also by appointment almost anytime at DeKalbAWC@gmail.com. Parking is available in the lot ½ block south on 11th St. The accessible lift is reached from the alley north of the 1917 building.<br/>
