BEIRUT, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) Ronette Saab, a Lebanese woman in her 30s, from Deir Mimas, a town in southeast Lebanon, failed to justify for her children the reason for not celebrating this year s Christmas and New Year.
Saab, who was accustomed to accompany her children to the market every year to buy holiday clothes, sweets and Christmas tree decorations, told Xinhua that the difficult economic situation and the anti-COVID-19 measures have changed her family s way of life. We have been trying to limit our expenses this year so we used an old Christmas tree, an old decoration and old clothes which was not very satisfying for my children. We had to abandon many of our festive rituals while praying to overcome the current financial crisis and the weakening of our local currency against the U.S. dollar, she said.
