The Stylist, and it’s been a lot of fun watching from the bleachers as the project reached its goal, went into production, and knocked folks out on the fest circuit. For those not yet familiar, here’s the synopsis:

Part of the considerable charm of this discerning Blu-ray release is that it shows exactly how two different releases of the same film can offer remarkably diverse experiences…
Bava’s original Italian release with the Hitchcockian inspired title takes in a far darker sense of impending dread and horror. After all, as the excellent extra features from various genre experts inform us, this title can in many senses be seen to be one of the first true giallo films, mixing elements of murder mystery with the modish cinematography and stylistic elements that would go on to inspire the next generation of blood-red drenched dream weavers.
Southland Tales was one of The Rock’s first films, and the movie is set to get a special edition Blu-ray release from Arrow Video. Arrow has announced that the Richard Kelly film that stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Seann William Scott, and Justin Timberlake will receive a Blu-Ray release on January 26th that includes the extended cut that premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2006. That cut runs 15 minutes longer than the 145 minute cut that released theatrically, which will also be on the release.
The film was Kelly’s directorical follow-up to his cult hit
Donnie Darko and was polarizing among critics, who praised its ambition but criticized it for being unfocused and incoherant. It did not receive a wide release in the US and ultimately grossed just $374,743 theatrically against a $17 million budget. In the years following, the movie has found ardent defenders and has developed a bit of a cult following.
