The Worthington Cemetery in Defiance County is the final resting place of around 50 freed slaves, but was lost as farming interests took over the property.
Defiance Public Library System (DPLS) has received word that its application for an Ohio historic marker for Worthington Cemetery, the county’s only known historic Black cemetery, has been approved.
An article which appeared in Saturday s Crescent-News incorrectly stated that the live history encampment occurring during Art in the Park June 24-25 will be at the Defiance Public Library fortgrounds.
