billion a month at the height of the afghan conflict, trying to equip and permit a country with modern armed forces. the scale of our support it seems to me at this phase of the war the earlier phase i understand where we were and it was magnificent. now they ve got to redouble their efforts. but it can t just be cautious shoving small amounts of equipment into ukraine. they probably need 500 m-1 tanks. we have 3,000. we can do that. anti-ship missiles, the brits have got to not be working on it. they have to get the anti-ship missiles into the fight. i noticed admiral kirby called them coastal defense missiles. we are still wrapped up in defensive versus offensive tactical operations. that s nonsense. i have seen a lot of people killed, it was never apparent whether it was a defensive or
the murders in bucha, i think, show another aspect of this war. these were random, brutal murders, rape, torture of russian tactical units completely out of control. it s a horrendous thing. we better focus on what s happening. this war s going to grind ukraine into the dust if we don t accelerate and improve the delivery of defense technology to the ukrainians. and by the way, in notion of defensive versus offensive is nonsense. i ve seen a lot of people killed where it was not apparent whether the weapon was offense or defense, and so we ve got a challenge coming up. we better stand up to it. and so bruce rydell, someone you know well, former secretary of state james baker he was honored today with a statue unveiled at the state department, and he talked about
nations to sign up, but the brits, french, germans and us can do it, and they need to start doing it now. and is that a conversation that s happening? because i know when you talk, general mccaffrey, people listen. well, you know, i ve been in several administrations in washington, and our government actually works better than any other one i ve encountered on the globe. however, we get wrapped around the council, you know? conference table and with lawyers debating the white house lawyers, doj lawyers, state lawyers, pentagon lawyers, defensive versus offensive, you know, i ve seen a lot of people killed in combat, and it was not apparent whether it was a defensive kill or an offensive kill. so, they ve been worried about nuclear warfare. they should be. the president s going to be held accountable. they re worried about world war iii. not much of a worry in my mind. russia has most of their ground
