Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Friday that China's military exercises aimed at Taiwan represent a "grave problem" that threatens regional peace and security after five ballistic missiles launched as part of the drills landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone.
The United States denounced China s missile launches in Japan s exclusive economic zone that were carried out as part of military exercises in response to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi s trip to Taiwan, National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said on Thursday.
The Ministry of Defence in Tokyo estimated that five ballistic missiles landed in Japan’s exclusive economic zone, and four of those probably flew over Taiwan.
