Breath of fresh air
ELLSWORTH While the full impact of an entire school year of learning under COVID-19 will only become clear over time, two organizations have stepped up to help students right now by providing mini-grants or other practical assistance for outdoor education.
The Maine Environmental Education Association provided $100,000 in grants to schools, with some of the monies landing in Blue Hill, Otis and Deer Isle, while Acadia National Park sent 850 nature study kits to Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School. The assistance gives students opportunities to get outdoors, explore while learning about Maine’s natural environment and even practice a little or a lot of science.
