Deepika Padukone s latest advertisement for a popular denim brand has stirred a controversy after filmmaker Sooni Taraporevala claimed that the backdrop of the commercial is similar to that of her critically acclaimed Netflix film
Yeh Ballet.
Taraporevala blasted the makers of Deepika s advertisement in a long post on her Instagram page. She accused them of intellectual theft. She said that the director of the ad saw
Yeh Ballet and used the same set without any acknowledgement, passing it off as their very own creative work.

Have you watched Deepika Padukone’s new Levi’s advertisement? Well, the ad has now landed in major trouble. Director of Yeh Ballet, Sooni Taraporevala, has accused the makers of plagiarism. She alleged that the set which has been showcased in the advertisement is identical to the one shown in her film Yeh Ballet. Rupin Suchak, who is the production designer for the new Levi’s advertisement, has even agreed to it. Sooni took to Instagram to call out the “copycat culture in India” and the makers who have blatantly plagiarised the team s hard work.

Deepika Padukone s latest Levi s ad had been turning heads for all the right reasons, until recently. The ad has now come under the scanner of plagiarism row. Yeh Ballet director, Sooni Taraporevala, has accused Levi s ad makers of copying everything from her film. Sooni took to social media to call out the copycat culture. She also stressed on the fact that this had nothing to do with Deepika Padukone or any other cast members in the ad.
