Sambhal: Two recently elected village heads in Uttar Pradesh panchayat polls have died, officials said on Friday.
Ambrish Kumar (45) and Dushyant Kumar (52), who were elected as village heads from Madhna and Rajha villages respectively, died due to breathing problems, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Deependra Yadav said.
The two had not tested positive for COVID-19, he said, adding their family members had taken them out of the district for treatment.

BAREILLY: To deter farmers from protests and inciting local residents against the recently passed farm laws, police in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal have asked several of them to file Rs 50 lakh bonds. Farmers claimed similar notices of lesser amounts were sent out in other districts of western UP as well, including Moradabad.
On Friday, BKU district president Rajpal Singh Yadav said, “The administrative officials are trying to convince us to give in writing that we will ensure peace and not campaign against the farm laws. But we have refused.” According to him, the amount of Rs 50 lakh was deliberately mentioned by the administration to intimidate farmers. For breach of peace during the farmers protest against the new farm laws, the Sambhal district administration in Uttar Pradesh issued notices to six farmer leaders asking them to submit personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each. However previously this amount was quoted as Rs 50 lakh.
The farmers complained the amount was too much, following which the police station incharge gave another report and they were asked to submit personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each, according to Subdivisional Magistrate Deependra Yadav
