A tireless advocate for survivors of domestic violence and the longtime head of the FavorHouse of Northwest Florida has passed away.
Sue Hand, who served as executive director of the domestic violence center since 1987, died Sunday at the age of 79.
For almost 37 years, Hand dedicated her life to helping survivors of domestic violence and was the guiding force behind FavorHouse. She started as a counselor in 1984 and transitioned to the board before she became executive director, evolving FavorHouse from a small shelter to a vital resource for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.
Hand embraced her mantra to serve as a voice for those who have lost their voice, leading her to save thousands of lives during her long career.
