In the best interest of nature and our struggling Atlantic salmon population, but with heavy hearts, the River Dee Trust and Dee District Salmon Fishery Board have cancelled the unique 24-hour fly-fishing marathon on the River Dee, due to take place on Royal Deeside on June 23 and 24 this year.
The River Dee Trust conservation charity and their partners are nearing their half-way milestone of planting a million trees to save endangered salmon and other wildlife.
The River Dee is to receive nearly £500,000 worth of Scottish Government funding to install over 1,000 instream trees that will provide a lifeline to endangered fish.
