The Administrator of Dedza Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, Monsignor John Chithonje, has challenged the religious and lay Catholic faithful to remain steadfast in the service of God and mankind.
He decried sloth and unfaithfulness among priests, religious brothers and sisters and lay Christians, stressing that these tendencies are against their calling from God.
Chithonje made the sentiments at Mtendere Catholic Parish in Dedza in his homily during the Eucharistic Mass celebration.

The Pontifical Mission Societies of Malawi (PMS) organized the Eucharistic Mass as part of the activities to celebrate this year’s National Vocations Sunday.

This is the second day since Fr. Kazingatchire passed on, but still sounds like false. The late father inspired many, and the quality of education at the Catholic University owes a lot to Late Father Kazingatchire. I cant imagine going back to the university, the going past his office, and you read “Director of Academic Affairs” but without the face of the seasoned academicians. State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima has expressed shock over the death of Archbishop Tarcisius Ziyaye of Lilongwe Archdiocese.
Ziyaye, 71, passed on in the early hours of Monday in Namibia where he went for medical treatment.
Writing on his official facebook page, Chilima said he was saddened with the demise of Ziyaye.
“We are mortified and immobilized with deep grief to learn of your departure from us your flock.You were an amazing Shepherd and you sought and fought for all God’s children with utmost zeal and undiminishing passion.
“You stood for the truth and defended the weak and the powerless against all earthly excesses of power and privilege. Our deepest prayer is that from the sanctuary of God’s amazing kingdom,you continue to pray for our nation never to lose the democratic gains for which you fought with all your essence,” wrote Chilima.

Malawians have poured praise on Archbishop Tarcisius Ziyaye of the Lilongwe Catholic Archdiocese who died on Monday. Many eulogized him as a patriot and an amazing shepherd.

Nyasa Times reported last week that Ziyaye was in Namibia where he was receiving treatment after being ill.
On Monday morning Episcopal Conference of Malawi secretary general Father Henry Saindi confirmed that the Archbishop had indeed been in Namibia and that is where he died.
President Lazarus Chakwera and Vice President Saulos Chillima have expressed shock at the death of Ziyaye as a loss.
