Homebred stayer Wil John continued his winning run with his third-straight victory demolishing his rivals by 20-lengths in the 1JW Hurdle (3200m) at Warrnambool on Sunday.
Prominent local owner-breeder Colin McKenna was overcome with emotion as the rising six-year-old cemented his staying and jumping credentials with a tough win in heavy conditions as connections look towards the Jericho Cup (4600m) in November.
The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained son of Reset out of a Bianconi mare, Arohanui, has already booked his ticket into Australia’s longest flat race with a win over 3600m at Bendigo last month with McKenna saying his wife and fellow owner-breeder Janice was particularly hopeful the homebred galloper could continue his winning run on his home track later in the year.
