The storm is still entered nearly 300 miles south of nantucket, but it is a large storm. The wind field is expansive. You can see the cloud shield moved in. Rain, the outer edge up, south and east of nantucket now but that is backing in towards the island. Look at the sky over boston, the cloud shielak see the cameras shaking there. We are starting to see the winds pick up, getting gusts in southeastern massachusetts at 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour by the time that you get down to nantucket. As we go through the day the winds continue to ramp up, so the potential for wind gusts between 40 and 50 Miles Per Hour. Here, winds between 30 and 40 Miles Per Hour closer into boston, so its on the immediate south coast cape and islands deteriorate. Coastline, the cape, the islands. Were getting gusts right now from plymouth out over the cape over 20 miles an hour, gusting over 30 miles an hour on nantucket. I can see a shield of clouds overmost of the area. The rain is offshore. Notice the movement. It is backing up toward the north and west. As the day wears on, we are going to get some rain. The center is 300 miles away. With High Pressure to the north, we are first going to see those winds increase. By lunchtime, were talking about hour with 50mileperhour gusts likely down on the islands, and these winds are going to be with us throughout the day. The winds are picking up. The clouds will be thickening. As we get into the afternoon, we will see some bands of showers come on in. I think were mostly dry through lunchtime. It looks like the morning just stays cloudy for the most part, right . Yeah, but youre going to notice the winds kicking up early along the coastline and the next couple of days. The rain holds off until later this afternoon. Your labor day plans, at least the next few hours, youre doing all right. The winds with hermine, 70 Miles Per Hour, and this is just crawling toward the north a weve got Tropical Storm warnings up for the immediate south coast, the cape and the islands, and this is where the winds are going to be strongest. Right now were getting a few guests over 20. Plymouth over 30. Nantucket. The winds are only going to get stronger as the day wears on. Starting to see clouds. Notice the outer rain bands. Miles per hour. Still getting closer to us. We are seeing wind gusts up to the eight Miles Per Hour on nantucket. This is still a powerful storm. But still pretty isolated across the cape in the islands. Take a look. Hermine sitting 200 miles offshore at the present time. We have seen rain bands filing end, but they have been confined to the cape and the islands. We have tropical warnings and for good reason. 40th in the vineyard, 41 Miles Per Hour in nantucket. We will see these 40, 50, even higher Miles Per Hour in the afternoon and evening. The farther west you go, notice how the winds back off because you are getting further away from the center of the storm. The biggest action out in the ocean. 12foot seas. As you go southward, 20 foot. The rip current risk continues. Notice these bands pivoting offshore as they do.
