floor in may, which is no easy feat, given that republicans are really divided on this issue. issue and how to approach it as well as he has a very slim majority of republicans in the house, but really the strategy from mccarthy and other house republicans is to try and use this to garner as much support as they can within the republican base and then strong arm the white house and pressure them into going back to the negotiating table and showing them that any sort of debt limit deal must have strings attached. the big issue, though here has been that president biden and house speaker kevin mccarthy have not sat down to negotiate on this, uh for months now, and the deadline is looming, so everyone is looking to when another potential white house meeting between biden and the hill will take place. okay and, um, now are let at the white house. where does the white house stand on what could be a real breakthrough? but in general, where are they on this whole debt ceiling battle. well
could be a part of the negotiating tactics on the part of the president in dealing with the new house speaker. no doubt about it. i think nia was spot on. there is a short-term political benefit here because of the coming weeks and months of this debt ceiling battle, and so this is an attempt to put kevin mccarthy in a bit of a box and say, okay, you know, you say you want spending cuts. you won t specify what they are. i keep saying, show me your budget, and now i m going to pressure you here and say, take these off the table, which kevin mccarthy says, i m not talking about cutting social security and medicare. he tries to distance himself from this rick scott plan, but biden and his team are going to use this to try and corner him as they go through these spending negotiations with the ultimate goal of trying to get the debt ceiling raised. that s a huge issue. the long-term political gain on the re-elect. it serves both purposes here. when do we expect that he will make the
