OTTAWA The COVID-19 stay-at-home order didn t stop homebuyers from going on a shopping spree in Ottawa in May. The Ottawa Real Estate Board reports a 71 per cent increase in homes sold in May compared to the same month last year, with 46 per cent of homes selling for more than $700,000. Newly released data shows 2,296 residential properties sold last month, compared with 1,342 in May 2020. Although Ontario was in a lockdown in both May 2020 and May 2021, the impact they had on Ottawa’s resale market was quite different – with this year’s number of transactions being well over the five-year average, said Debra Wright, Ottawa Real Estate Board President.
OTTAWA The Ottawa Real Estate Board says COVID-19 restrictions caused Ottawa’s real estate market to sputter last month, but the cost of a new home still jumped more than 40 per cent. The average sale price for a residential class property was $743,204, up 42 per cent from a year ago. The average sale price for a condominium was $427,145, up 30 per cent from last year. A total of 2,402 residential properties were sold in Ottawa in April, compared with 911 in April 2020 and 2,026 in April 2019. The board notes the 2020 figures were skewed due to the first COVID-19 state of emergency last spring, which had initially slowed down the real estate market.

Our duck and goose hunter and fisherman, Craig Dixon, decided it was time to cross the Rainbow Bridge on April 21, 2021, to pick up our nine very special fur babies and head to heaven. Debra and their fur baby Pebbles were by his side.
Little did he know, when Debra stepped on his toe, they would be together for 30 years.
He was born on July 12, 1961, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of William and Pat Kaplinger Dixon.
The hunting and fishing community will miss seeing him in his boat. He didn’t care if he caught anything, he just loved being out there.
